DPR of Metro Neo passed in Uttarakhand Metro Rail Corporation’s board meeting, now waiting for the green signal from the government

It has been approved to run the rubber tires metro i.e. Metro Neo in Dehradun. It was flagged off in the board meeting of Uttarakhand Metro Rail Corporation chaired by Chief Secretary Om Prakash. Now the government has to arrange a budget for this.

In fact, Uttarakhand Metro Rail Corporation (UKMRC) with the help of Delhi Metro, after getting permission from the Central Government, prepared a detailed project report (DPR) of the low-cost Metro Neo in Dehradun. In the board meeting chaired by the Chief Secretary, this DPR was passed with partial amendment.

Jitendra Tyagi, MD, UKMRC, said that at present, partial amendments will be made in the DPR. After this, its proposal will be sent to the government. The government will take a decision on this, after which further action will be taken. Let us tell you that apart from Dehradun, cities like Gorakhpur, Prayagraj, Jammu, Srinagar, Rajkot, Baroda, Coimbatore, Bhiwadi had sent proposals for Metro Neo.

Discussion on Haridwar-Rishikesh local train

Metro Rail Corporation has started work on running a local train on the lines of Mumbai between Haridwar and Rishikesh on the instructions of the government. This was also discussed in the board meeting. For this, the Ministry of Railways has been asked to discuss all possibilities.
Metro Neo will be ready at a very low cost
It costs much less to build a Metro Neo than a normal metro. Currently, the cost per kilometer to build an elevated metro is Rs 300-350 crores. The same cost reaches Rs 600-800 crore in the underground.

While the cost for Metro Neo or Metro Light is only up to 200 crores. Since it will cost less, passengers will also get the gift of cheap travel in it. In this, the capacity of the passengers will be less than the normal metro, for this a dedicated corridor will be prepared off the road.

What is Metro Neo

-Metro Neo system is a rail guided system, which will have electric coaches with rubber tires.
– Its coaches will be made of steel or aluminum. This train will be able to run for up to 20 kilometers, so there will be so much power backup.
– By fencing on general road sides or by building walls, its track can be prepared.
– It will have automatic train protection system, speed limit will also be under control.
– In this, the system of the ticket will be with QR code or general mobility card.
– Its track width will be eight meters. Where it will stop, there will be a 1.1-meter side platform. The Iceland platform will be four meters in width.

The first rubber tire metro started in Canada in 1966

In 1966, the world’s first rubber tire metro was first started in Montreal, Canada. The Santiago Metro and Mexico City Metro also started thereafter. In 1983, a rubber metro was started in many cities, which was a successful operation. Paris Metro also became driverless in the year 2007.
