IFS Amit Verma has taken over as the new director of Rajaji Tiger Reserve on Tuesday. Amit Verma is a 2005 batch officer in the Indian Forest Service. He has replaced senior IFS officer PK Patro.
Talking about his priorities, he said that before coming here, he was posted as deputy director of Corbett National Park. During this time he has faced many challenges.

He said reducing elephant deaths on the side of the railway tracks in the Motichur-Kansaro range of the Tiger Reserve and rehabilitating the forest Gujjars residing in the Reserve Area were among his priorities. Enhancing security in the reserve area is also their priority.
