Purshottam Asanoda, a senior journalist, thinker and considered a strong advocate of the Gassean concept, died on Wednesday at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh. He had a heart attack on 12 April and was airlifted and admitted to AIIMS Rishikesh on the instructions of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat. He suffered a heart attack again at 4 pm Wednesday and could not be saved. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly have expressed deep condolences on the demise of Asanora.
Asnora was a rich journalist, thinker, literature lover and public-oriented personality, and was one of the strongest advocates of being made in Uttarakhand’s capital, Garsain. He was active in journalism for over three decades and was the editor of the monthly magazine Regional Reporter. His daughter journalist Ganga Asanora Thapliyal told that his condition was improving, but suddenly the cruel hands of Kaal snatched him away.
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh has expressed deep grief over the demise of Purushottam Asanora. He has wished God to provide peace to the departed soul and patience to the bereaved. Vidhan Sabha Speaker Premchand Agrawal said that I mourn the sudden demise of Purshottam Asanoda, a rich, fearless and impartial senior journalist of the pioneer and social concerns of the state building movement. May God bless his saintly soul and provide patience to the bereaved family in this hour of grief. Apart from these, various journalist organizations and people associated with the movement and social organizations have also expressed condolences.
