In Uttarakhand, which is naturally known as a rich repository of herbs, now farmers are increasingly oriented towards cultivation along with cultivation of herbs. If you look at the figures, then 26 thousand farmers are connected with the Herbal Research Development Institute (HRDI) and 21 thousand farmers from the Aromatic Plant Center (CAP). Keeping in view the trend of farmers, the state government has also decided to promote herbs and aromatic products in the state, so as to increase the income of farmers. In this sequence, Chief Minister Tirath Singh Rawat has instructed both the institutions to take fast steps.

First thing was the Aromatic Plant Center, Selakui. Since the inception of this center, 109 clusters have been developed so far across the state. These include rehabilitation of abandoned land, damsk rose cultivation as a boundary crop, cultivation of Japanese mint as mixed farming, brisk farming as a forestry crop, and other aromatic crops including chamomile as a short-term crop. Has been done. About 21 thousand farmers have been associated with them, due to which their income has increased.

On the initiative of the Institute of Herbal Research and Development, about 26 thousand farmers are involved in the cultivation of herbs. To help the farmers, three centers have been set up in Chamoli, Uttarkashi and Pithoragarh districts for research and development and their monitoring and supervision. According to the information received from the institute, models of 12 different medicinal gardens have been installed in the nursery at Mandal.

The museum and herbarium have been established in Mandal itself. The institute has also developed six herbal teas. The names of Morning, Evening, Knight, Queen, King and Hipophy Herbal Tea have been prepared for their technical transfer. Not only this, technical information is being given to tenants in view of the cultivation of 38 types of herbs. The institute has also taken steps to develop hundred medicinal products.
