On the occasion of Mahashivratri, the date of opening of the doors of Shri Kedarnath Dham was decided in the presence of Rawal Bhimashankar Linga of Kedarnath. The date and time of opening of the doors of the temple was announced by the Acharya as per the Panchang calculation.The doors of the world famous Kedarnath temple in Uttarakhand will be opened again for devotees on May 2. Chief Executive Officer of Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee, Vijay Prasad Thapliyal said that Badrinath Dham will open on May 4, while Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham will open on April 30 on the day of Akshaya Tritiya.After remaining closed for about six months during winter, the doors of the temple will now be opened on Friday, May 2, at 7 am in Gemini and Taurus ascendant.On the holy festival of Mahashivratri, worship was performed at the Omkareshwar temple in Ukhimath, the winter seat of Baba Kedarnath. After this, religious leaders and Vedpathis calculated the Panchang and decided the auspicious time for opening the doors of the Kedarnath temple.

For this, Rawal Bhimashankar Ling of Kedarnath Dham also reached Ukhimath. Priests Shiv Shankar Ling, Bagesh Ling and Gangadhar Ling said that worship started at 6 am in Omkareshwar temple. Aarti was performed while offering Bal Bhog and Mahabhog to Baba Kedar. After this, in the presence of Rawal Bhimashankar Ling, the date of opening of the doors of Shri Kedarnath Dham was announced as May 2.
