NHAI has planned a bypass of about 10 km. This will be from the second Anjani Chowki-Tircha bridge to Sarvananda Ghat.
In the next phase of Haridwar bypass, there is a plan to build a tunnel through Rajaji National Park. The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) had got a study done by the Wildlife Institute of India regarding this possibility. The institute has submitted its report, in which some suggestions have also been given from the point of view of wildlife.Haridwar bypass is being prepared in several phases. It includes a 15 km bypass from Bahadarabad to Kangri. After that, a bypass is to be built in the next phase. NHAI has planned a 10 km bypass in this. This will go from the second Anjani Chowki-Tircha bridge to Sarvananda Ghat.
Under this, there is a plan to build a four km tunnel near Chandi Mandir. This area comes under Rajaji National Park. In such a situation, if the tunnel is built, there will be no effect on the movement of wildlife. The tunnel will come out near Bhimgouda Barrage, a bridge will be built here and the path will be made, which will come out near Sarvananda Ghat.
Indian Wildlife Institute also gave suggestions
Shivam Shrotriya, a scientist involved in the study on behalf of the Wildlife Institute of India, says that the areas where the tunnel opens on both sides are also sensitive. In such a situation, a proposal has been made to build an elevated road on both sides of the tunnel, so that the movement of wildlife will not be affected. This study was done last year.
Some suggestions have been given to NHAI regarding wildlife. According to NHAI officials, work is to be done under this alignment. Work is also being started regarding the process of transfer of forest land for the related scheme.Wildlife expert Dinesh Pandey says that there is movement of elephants near Tircha Bridge. There is a need to work on the plan keeping the wildlife in mind here. Work is done as per the suggestions of the Wildlife Institute of India. This will ensure the safety and conservation of wildlife as well as development work.
