In the murder case of Shekhar Chandra Dhaundiyal who was shot by unidentified shooters on August 13 in front of the office of Shiv cable network in Kotdwar, the Pauri district police have arrested two accused in the case.

Local police have also recovered the pistol that was used for the crime.

The case has once again raised questions on the way district prisons have been operating. This case again is a classic example of nexus still being operated by the criminals imprisoned in the jails. The accused have been identified as Bharatveer and Monu Malik, both are residents of Manglaur in Haridwar.

According to information provided by the police accused during interrogation stated that they were asked to meet Narendra Valmiki who is serving time in Pauri district jail and Rupesh Tyagi who is now in Dehradun district jail.

They met the duo at Pauri district jail on June 21.

They then contracted them to threaten the people who are working at the cable network office in Kotdwar, fire a round and threaten employees for extortion. The accused were also provided with the gun and other necessary items from Roorkee.The accused serving time at the jail and duo nabbed by the police were in contact with each other before and after the crime through WhatsApp messenger.

It is pertinent to mention here that on August 13, at 3:25 PM 46 year old Shekhar Chandra Dhaundiyal who was a resident of Patelnagar in Dehradun was shot by unidentified shooters at a cable network office in Kotdwar. On directions of Pauri Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dilip Singh Kunwar 10 teams were set up for arresting  culprits.
