Old age homes will be opened in every district of the country. This is the statement of Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Virendra Kumar. He said this at the closing ceremony of the two-day Chintan Shivir organised by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment here.In a camp organized at Wedding Point on Mussoorie Road, he said, the central government wants to help in opening old age homes and de-addiction centres in every district. For this, it will provide money to the states. He also pointed out the need to form transgender boards in the states. He said, the work on various schemes for transgenders will not be completed without the cooperation of the state governments. He said that the government is moving ahead with commitment for the empowerment of the disabled.

Emphasis on community mobilization and awareness to tackle drug abuse
The second day of the Chintan Shivir highlighted national efforts under the National Action Plan on Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR) and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan (NMBA). States presented field-level challenges and innovations in tackling drug abuse, emphasizing the role of community mobilization and awareness campaigns. 19 ministers and officers from 34 states and union territories participated in the camp.
