D.Y. Chandrachud recommended the name of his successorJustice Khanna will become the Chief Justice on November 11 and will retire on May 13, 2025

He will be the 51st Chief Justice of India. Chief Justice D. Va. Chandrachud started the process of advocating for his successor by advising the central government on the name of his next senior judge in the Supreme Court, Sanjeev Sanjeevan.

According to the document, Chief Justice Chandrachud on Sunday wrote a letter bearing the name of Ramnath Khanna to the Union Law Ministry. The funeral will take place on November 11, with the Chief Justice’s appointment and retirement on May 13, 2025.

On May 14, 1960, the staunch revolutionary studied law from the ‘Campus Law Centre’ (CLC) of Delhi University and got registered with the Bar Council of Delhi in 1983. He practiced law in the Delhi High Court on matters such as taxation, commercial law, environmental law, medical industry law and company law.
In 2005, Khanna was appointed as an additional judge of the Delhi High Court and on 20 February 2006, he was made a permanent judge. In connection with the revolutionaries in Delhi High Court, he was associated with Delhi Mishal Academy, Delhi International Stock Market Center and District Headquarters Center etc
