Leh: Dec, 13: The Member Parliament Ladakh Jamyang Tsering Namgyal along with Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor LAHDC, Leh Advocate Tashi Gyalson and senior BJP members of UT Ladakh today called on the Union Minister for Railways, Industries, Trade and Commerce Piyush Goyal at New Delhi and requested to consider the list of steps proposed by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor UT Ladakh for the local MSME/SSI for providing handholding at the earliest saying that most of the industry units of Ladakh are dependent on the govt. department for their business and facing significant hardships as these local industries are working in extremely harsh and inhospitable climatic conditions with a short working season of six month period available besides road connectivity remains closed during winter months. Besides, the change in the procurement process after the formation of Union Territory, these units are facing shutdown. The delegation informed the minister.
The delegation also raised the issue of tourism incentive scheme through the Industrial Development Scheme (IDS 2017) for erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir state and implemented by Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade ( DPIIT) Ministry of Commerce and Industry which was extended for the period of four years from 15-06-2017 to 31st March 2021, and was also extended and applicable for Ladakh but unfortunately due to some administrative delays none of the hoteliers, resort and guest houses from Ladakh could take benefits out of this scheme and requested Union Minister Piyush Goyal to extend the scheme for Ladakh for another four years by streamlining the mechanism for availing these schemes including separate schemes for Ladakh delinking J&K.
MP JTN and CEC Gyalson also requested Union Minister for establishment of separate state level constitutional and non-constitutional bodies for Ladakh related to industries, as it has become imperative and necessary after creation of UT Ladakh to formulate industry policies as per the need of Ladakh and requested for establishment of Khadi and Village Industries Board in Ladakh.
The Union Minister for Railways, Industries, Trade and Commerce Piyush Goyal gave very patient hearing to the demands of UT Ladkah related with commerce and industries and assured to address all the genuine issues on top priority.
