Indifference of the weather: Snow-clad peaks in Badrinath are now snowless…extreme cold has increased the problems

Due to the harshness of the weather, the snow-clad peaks are still devoid of snow even after November has passed. The high peaks of Badrinath Dham and Hemkund Sahib used to be covered with snow in the past years, but this year there is no sign of snowfall in sight.

These days, the work of the Master Plan is also going on in full swing in Badrinath Dham. The temperature in the Dham is reaching minus 7 at night, but due to no snowfall, the work of the Master Plan is continuing as usual. However, due to the increasing cold wave after 2 pm, the work of the Master Plan is also getting affected.About 500 labourers and 25 engineers of PWD (PIU) are engaged in the works of the master plan in the Dham. Executive Engineer of PIU Yogesh Manral said that snow is not visible anywhere in the Dham. The high peaks are snowless.

If the weather remains the same, the work of the master plan will continue in December as well. Snow is rarely seen on the Satapath trek, which is about 15 km from Badrinath Dham. Whereas in the past years, due to rain and snowfall after November 20, snow used to accumulate even in the lower regions.

The same situation prevails in Hemkund Sahib as well. Sardar Seva Singh, senior manager of Govindghat Gurudwara, said that for the first time snow is not visible in Hemkund Sahib in winter. The holy lake of Hemkund Sahib has frozen due to cold, but there is no snow on the hills.
