Closely feeding and feeding the domesticated animals; feeding the fish; watching the paddy and wheat crops harvesting; It is fun to spend your whole day in the midst of fun desi mines riding cow bulls. All this is a routine of agro tourism.

When we were all little, we used to enjoy running among goat kids, jumping in a pile of straw or money, watching water coming out of the well, etc. When growing up a bit, walking in a tractor-trolley, taking a bath in a tubewell, climbing trees, plucking fruits and vegetables etc. Not only his house, the entire village was his own.
Agro tourism again gives us an opportunity to feel the same village up close.

Agro tourism refers to agricultural tourism. Under Agro Tourism, activities related to agriculture and the ancient heritage of agriculture are presented to tourists in an entertaining way. Under this, tourists get an opportunity to go between the fields to see and use crops and their products in

the natural environment.

Agro tourism first started in Italy in 1890 globally. In Italy it was named Agro Tourism. Currently, aggro tourism is expanding rapidly. It is rapidly expanding in Australia, North America and Asia and providing additional opportunities for farmers’ income.

Agro tourism started in India

Agro tourism first started in India in 2004 from Maharashtra. The first agricultural tourism center was started in Baramati, Maharashtra. Later the Baramati Agricultural Tourism Center was also honored with the award by the President.
Similarly, in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra, four youth started agricultural tourism centers as start ups on 15 hectares of land.
In Himachal Pradesh, booking is done in advance to show the tourists the activities of roaming, living, eating and plucking the apples in the apple orchards.
Similarly, the state of Haryana has also started agro tourism. In Haryana, agro tourism has been permitted by the government to farmers in many places.
Agro Tourism Development Corporation of India (ATDC) has approved agro tourism to more than 200 farmers and their farms in India by the end of 2014.
How can agro tourism help in increasing the income of farmers?

Under agro tourism, tourists have to pay to visit and stay in the fields of the farmers. In addition to agricultural income, farmers also get income from tourists.
At present, the trend of tourists and consumers is moving towards agriculture and food items. That is why they are eager to see the production sites of these goods in real terms. This curiosity leads them to agro tourism which becomes an additional source of income for the farmers.
Above all, under Agro Tourism, the products of the farmers are also purchased directly by the tourists, which also gives them income.
The Government of India is itself promoting agro tourism. It is known that the Government of India has set a target to double the income of farmers by the year 2022.
It can be said that agro tourism directly connects tourists with agriculture. Also, it provides new sources of livelihood for the farmers in addition to the income from farming.
