The Uttarakhand government has given relief to about 11 lakh APL families in the state due to the ongoing lockdown to prevent the corona epidemic. The government doubled the cheaper rations per month to these families under the state food scheme.

Now you will get 15 kg ration per ration card. Till now seven and a half kilos of ration was available per month. The cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Wednesday approved doubling of cheaper rations of APL families.

There are more than 23 lakh ration card holders in the state, which are in three categories. Primary and Antyodaya ration card holders are under the National Food Security Scheme. Their number is about 1.3 million. While about 11 lakh APL families are included in the state food scheme.

Apart from the cheap ration received by the central government to the ration card holders of the primary and Antyodaya families every month, now an additional five kg of rice is being given free of cost.

These families already get more ration than APL. The state government has doubled the ration quota of APL families of the state food scheme from April to June.

Under the state food scheme, APL families get a total of seven and a half kilos of ration per month. It has five kg of wheat and 2.5 kg of rice per card. While primary families get two kg of wheat and three kg of rice per member and Antyodaya family gets 35 kg of ration per card per month. It has 21 kg of 700 grams of wheat and 13 kg of 300 grams of rice.
