Uttarakhand: Organic products will get fair price to market and farmers, so many outlets will open in the first phase
In Uttarakhand, the government has stepped up the exercise to market organic products and provide reasonable prices to farmers. The government has decided to open 1300 organic outlets across the state. In the first phase, 619 outlets and 20 exclusive outlets will be opened in bus stations, railway stations, airports and other big cities.

The Public Works Department has been given the responsibility to design the organic outlet. At the same time, the district collectors have been instructed to select the land for the outlet on the basis of organic clusters.

On Thursday, Agriculture and Horticulture Minister Subodh Uniyal reviewed the marketing plan of organic products in the Vidhan Sabha-based auditorium. In the meeting, the Agriculture Minister said that the government has decided to set up 1300 outlets across the state in order to get rid of middlemen from the farmers and to have a direct relationship with the consumer.

The plan will be worked out in two phases. In the first phase, 619 outlets as well as 20 exclusive outlets were started in bus stations, railway stations, airports and other cities. The outlet will be constructed through Public Works Department and Mandi Parishad.

The Public Works Department has been asked to design the outlet soon. He said that there will be a market for organic products of 6404 groups in the state. At the same time, farmers will get fair price for the product. Every year seven crore travelers coming to Uttarakhand from abroad can easily get organic products at reasonable prices.

The Agriculture Minister said that Uttarakhand’s organic produce is being established as a brand. All the District Collectors should be instructed to select the place to construct the outlets. Secretary Agriculture and Horticulture Harbans Singh Chugh, Director Horticulture Harvinder Singh Baweja and other officials were present in the meeting.
