Single Use Plastic Disposal campaign will be successful in Uttarakhand

The single-use plastic initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also be launched in Uttarakhand. Steps have been taken to dispose of 300 tons of plastic waste generated as a resource in the state on a daily basis. Cities and villages will now be free from plastic waste that has become a challenge for the environment, but it will also create employment opportunities.

Plastic waste has also emerged as a major problem in Uttarakhand. The Pollution Control Board estimates that an average of 300 tonnes of plastic waste is released daily from the cities and villages of the state. In such a situation, effective steps are necessary for its disposal. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister has launched a campaign for the disposal of single-use plastic, and the state has also taken an initiative in this direction.

The government has taken plastic waste as a resource, so that people can get employment along with its diagnosis. In this episode, there is a drive to make diesel, petrol from plastic waste in Dehradun, while plastic waste making plant is expected to come into existence this year in Roorkee, Udham Singh Nagar. Also, segregation of waste is happening in all municipal bodies.

Initiatives are being taken to free the plastic waste not only in the city but also in the villages with the help of the center. Additional Secretary Panchayati Raj HC Semwal says that in the first phase, sheds are being made for the collection of plastic waste along with the installation of compactors in each village of all 95 blocks. The process of land selection for the recycling plant in Haridwar is in the final stages. Women groups in villages will be assigned the task of collecting plastic waste. Haridwar plant will buy the collected plastic. This will not only generate income for the groups, but the villages will be free from plastic waste.

Urban Development Minister Madan Kaushik says that the government has taken the challenge of plastic waste as a resource. This will get rid of plastic waste, while people will also get employment. For this, steps are being taken everywhere in the city and village.
