नेपाल में अचानक आई बाढ़ से मरने वालों की संख्या बढ़कर 691 हो गई है, जबकि आपदा के बाद 3 हजार से अधिक लोग अब भी लापता हैं। बाढ़ से हुए भारी नुकसान के बाद भारत ने बड़े पैमाने पर राहत और बचाव अभियान तेज कर दिया है।

अब तक 108 भारतीय नागरिकों को सुरक्षित बचाया जा चुका है, जबकि पहले संपर्क से बाहर हुए करीब 50 अन्य भारतीयों से दोबारा संपर्क स्थापित कर लिया गया है। चीन से नेपाल की ओर पिछले दो दिनों में 598 भारतीय नागरिक सुरक्षित पहुंचे हैं। चीन की ओर करीब 900 भारतीय सुरक्षित और संपर्क में हैं।

हालांकि, 275 से अधिक भारतीय नागरिक और 128 भारतीय मूल के लोग अब भी लापता हैं। नेपाल में बचाव दलों ने चौथे दिन लगभग 2,500 फंसे हुए लोगों को सुरक्षित निकाला। बचाव अभियान के लिए 11 हजार से अधिक सुरक्षाकर्मियों को तैनात किया गया है।
