Hembvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University(HNBGU)the only central university in uttarakhand is yet in the eye of the storm as its law students have discovered that the institute doesn’t have affiliation from All India Bar Council for the law courses offered by two campus of the varsity.Some students have even moved to high court against HNBGU.

Two campuses of HNBGU- Dr B Gopal Reddy Campus in Pauri and SRT Campus in Tehri –offer law courses.Several batches have passed out with the varsity degree from these campuses but were never informed of the affiliation byt he HNBGU officials.

This was a case and matter which came to light when Yugant Parihar , a student of Pauri campus , went to Delhi after finishing his LLB and tried to get himself registered at he Bar Council to start his law practice.He was told by the Bar Coucil authorities that his law degree is invalid as HNBGU has nof affiliation fro Bar Council. He was also Told that the university hasn’t submitted the fee to nenew it affiliation since 2010 and hence the Bar Council has cancelled its affiliation.

After the student protest the university took action and contact Bar Coucil of India and assured that they were in confusion that the central university dont need the permission and affilliation but they will submit necessity documents and fees to retain and contue the the LLB course.
