Anand Prakash Badola, a native of Pathol village in Pauri Garhwal, has been appointed Additional Director General of Coast Guard. He was also awarded the President’s Coast Guard Award for Distinguished Service on Republic Day last year. Earlier in the year 2021, he was awarded the President’s Coast Guard Medal for meritorious service by the Defense Minister at the Investiture Ceremony held at Coast Guard Headquarters New Delhi.

DIG of Chennai Central and Puducherry Coast Guard SS Dasila said that Badola is a native of Pathol village in Pauri Garhwal, Uttarakhand. He studied at Vikas Nagar Dehradun and SGRR College Dehradun. He joined the Indian Coast Guard in the year 1990. Navigation and Direction Specialist Badola also studied at the prestigious US Naval Staff College Newport USA. On being promoted to flag rank in May 2017, he served as Chief of Staff at the headquarters of the Coast Guard Eastern and Western Coasts.From December 2019 to June 2021, he was posted as Commander Coast Guard Region (West) in Mumbai. From 11 June 2021 to 20 November, he took over the command of Commander Coast Guard Region (East) in Chennai. Badola, who was working as Deputy Director General (Policy and Planning) at Coast Guard Headquarters, commanded ships in various categories besides Coast Guard Commander of Eastern and Western Region during his 35-year tenure. With the medals received for dedicated service, he has joined the league of decorated armed forces officers. He is survived by his wife Neelima Badola and two sons Karan and Arjun.
