Uttarakhand: Compensation will be given for loss of crops by monkeys, Forest Department orders

If the crop is harmed by the monkeys, compensation of at least Rs 8000 per acre will also be given by the Forest Department. The department has issued this order.

The problem of crop loss from monkeys is increasing constantly in the state. This problem is more in hilly districts. People say that the monkey herds tend towards the fields and the beds. The gardeners suffer more from this. To avoid this problem, the hilly districts have maintained even the monkey register and under this the duty is imposed on the basis of roster of the families of the village.

The women say that the monkeys are now more fearless and are not running away without making noise. In Almora, the children also wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of the High Court, saying that they are unable to go to school due to fear of monkeys.

To solve this problem, four new monkey barns are also being built in the state and efforts are being made to implement the sterilization scheme at the government level more quickly. Despite this, due to increasing population of monkeys, there is no solution to this problem. Now, with the announcement of compensation of crop loss by the forest department, people can get some relief.

There are more than one and a half lakh monkeys in the state
The number of them is increasing every year according to the -36 percent
-16000 monkeys have been sterilized, the government declared a bully and allowed them to kill the monkeys. But not a single monkey is killed. The reason has been attributed to religious sentiment.

Compensation will be given in these situations
1. Injured, disabled or killed by tiger, leopard, snow leopard, wild elephant, bear, hyena, wild boar, crocodile, crocodile, snake attack. On the killing of pet animals on behalf of these wildlife
2. On the loss of crop from monkey, wild elephant, wild boar, nilgai, kakad, sambar, chital
3. On the loss of a house by a wild elephant

This compensation will be given on crop loss
– Sugarcane whole crop – 25 thousand rupees / acre
– Complete crop of staple, wheat, oilseeds – 15 thousand rupees / acre
-All other crops – Rs.8000 / acre

Report the incident to the local forest officer within two days. After this, the report will be prepared after inspection by the Tehsildar / Patwari and Forest Officer. This report will be made available to the Assistant Wildlife Conservator and Wildlife Protector. Final inquiry report will be sent within the given month.

There is a continuous talk of loss of cultivation from monkeys. To solve this problem, four new monkeys are also being built. A proposal has also been sent to the government to keep the relief amount the same.
