Tirath government is going to provide Mahalaxmi safety cover to the daughters in Devbhoomi. The ‘Chief Minister Saubhagyavati Kit’ scheme was approved in the cabinet meeting on Friday. According to Rekha Arya, Minister of State for Women Empowerment and Child Development (Independent Charge), this kit will be provided to the daughter and mother in case of the birth of a daughter in any family. Along with this, the family concerned will also receive a greeting card from the Chief Minister and the Minister for Women Empowerment and Child Development.
During the tenure of the last Trivandra Government, the Chief Minister’s Saubhagyavati Kit Scheme was drawn up on the initiative of Women Empowerment and Child Development Minister Rekha Arya. Now the name of this scheme has been changed to Chief Minister Mahalaxmi Kit. Departmental Minister Arya said that after the birth of the daughter, it is said that Lakshmi has come to the house. In view of this, the name of the scheme has been changed to Mahalaxmi Kit. Departmental Minister Arya informed that under the scheme, two kits will be given to mother and daughter when the daughter is born.
In this kit worth about three and a half thousand rupees, almonds, churas, sarees, suits, scarves, bedsheets, handwash, soaps, capes, nailcuts, etc. will be given for the mother. Cotton clothes, towels, blankets, rubber sheets, oil, soap, etc. will be provided for the daughter. Two daughters in the family will be given this kit. A vaccination-related message will also be found with the kit. He informed that the scheme will be operated through Anganwadi centers.
A free form will be available at every Anganwadi center. On application, it will be uploaded on the web portal. Along with improving the sex ratio through the scheme, the objective is to reduce maternal and infant mortality and also to promote institutional delivery.
