State Sheep Goat Frozen Seamen Station Inaugurated at Pashlok Rishikesh by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balian, Minister of State, Animal Husbandry, Government of India in collaboration with the National Livestock Mission, Government of India under the aegis of Uttarakhand Sheep and Wool Development Board Development Board (U.S.W.D.B.) under the scheme operated for the benefit of sheep and goat farmers of Uttarakhand StateSemen production and artificial insemination laboratory, Pashuloka, Rishikesh was inaugurated and inauguratedOn Friday, Union Minister of State as well as very special guest Subodh Uniyal, Forest Minister, Government of Uttarakhand, Saurabh Bahuguna ji, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Government of Uttarakhand, Dr. R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Secretary and Dr. B.V.R.C. Purushotam Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Government of Uttarakhand and District Magistrate Pauri Garhwal Dr Vijay KumarJogdande inaugurated and visited the artificial insemination laboratory and after talking to the sheep and goat farmers of the state who attended the program, incentive materials were distributed.
In the month of December 2019, the laboratory will produce high quality marino rams imported from Australia and semen of Sirohi, Barbari, Jamunapari, Beetle, Jakhrana species and will be transmitted on a wide scale in the state and will be transmitted to the state’s sheep and goat farmers. By making the semen availableBreed improvement work will be done in sheep and goats all over the state.Due to which the wool quality of sheep will increase as well as the weight of sheep and goats will increase and the livelihood and standard of living of sheep and goat farmers will improve. Under the scheme operated through Uttarakhand Sheep and Wool Development Board, artificial insemination has been done in about 3000 sheep and goats till present. Along with this, technology will also be used to transmit high quality males to local sheep and for breed improvement (artificial insemination through telescopic).
Under the scheme, training and skill development of sheep goat artificial insemination workers is being done to the unemployed youth and young women of the state with the aim of popularizing and popularizing the sheep goat artificial insemination technology, which will provide them additional means of income.
50 doses of super-frozen semen made in the laboratory were provided by the Union Minister to the artificial insemination workers for carrying out artificial insemination for breed improvement in their respective areas.
In order to improve the breed of sheep through artificial insemination as well as through natural breeding, male rams of local breeds of sheep farmers of Uttarkashi and Chamoli districts are being converted from those produced from imported Marino sheep. For 30 sheep 01 crossbred Australian Merino will be provided. This will boost wool production in the state as well as increase the average weight of sheep.The GoatMate Livestock Management System was launched by Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balian, Minister of State, Animal Husbandry, Government of India for efficient management of the farms in the state sheep goat breeding farms arranged in the state of Uttarakhand.
Along with the above, the BAKRAW Sweets brand was inaugurated to promote goat milk and milk products under the State Integrated Cooperative Development Project-Bheed Goat Sector Scheme, operated in collaboration with the National Cooperative Development Corporation, Government of India.
With the help of the National Livestock Mission, Government of India schemes for the benefit of sheep and goat farmers, the work of breed improvement in sheep and goats through natural and artificial insemination is progressing at a fast pace and with the increase in the quality of wool and meat production in sheep and goats, the state Livelihood and life of sheep and goat farmerslevel will improve.Skill development in artificial insemination paravets will provide the means of self-employment to the local unemployed youth. These efforts will help the sheep and goat farmers to become efficient entrepreneurs.
Under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister and Hon’ble Chief Minister, Uttarakhand state will emerge as a fine wool producing state in the next 10 years and a milestone in fulfilling the demand of fine wool of India’s wool and textile industry and making Uttarakhand and India self-reliant. will be proved.
