Over 500 Muslims to attend yoga camp in Kotdwar |
DEHRADUN: Over 500 Muslim men and women from different countries would take part in a five-day yoga camp to be organised at Kanva ashram in Kotdwar area of Pauri district from November 20.
Displaying a picture of communal harmony, the Muslims will offer namaz and also learn the asanas taught by experts of Patanjali Yogpeeth. Kanva Ashram is also known as birth place of emperor Bharat, after whom the country was named.
Gurukul vice-chancellor Vishwa Jayant Yogiraj said that the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have taken yoga to each country and an international yoga day too has been started.
The important event would be inaugurated by chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, who hails from Pauri district. RSS leader Indresh Kumar, who is also the convenor for Muslim Rashtriya Manch, will convene the yoga camp.
While CM will inaugurate the event, Balkrishna of Patanjali Yogpeeth, Swami Chidanand of Parmarth Niketan, Bhole Maharaj and Mata Mangla Devi — prominent philanthropists in the state — would grace the occasion.
Professor of Deoband-based Jamia Tibbia Unani Medical college Yunus Kasmi said that yoga doesn’t belong to any religion and it focuses on overall development — both physical and mental — of an individual.
