To promote exports in the state, the government is soon going to implement a logistics policy. This policy will give wings to exports. After taking the suggestions of the entrepreneurs and exporters, the final draft of the policy has been prepared and sent to the government. The logistics policy will be brought up in the next cabinet meeting after consulting the Finance and Justice Department.

Logistics is the biggest hurdle in front of exporters in the state. Despite this, the share of exports is increasing. Uttarakhand ranks 18th in the country in exports. Uttarakhand accounts for 0.74 percent of the country’s total exports in the financial year 2020-21. There is a lot of export potential in the state in automobile, pharma, horticulture, agriculture, food processing, organic products, wellness and health tourism, aroma, handicrafts, handloom sector.

The government has selected two products in each district for export. For the first time, the government will implement a logistics policy for the problems of the exporters and entrepreneurs of the state and for the development of logistics infrastructure. In this policy, exports will be facilitated by promoting other infrastructure facilities including logistics hub, parking, integrated custom depot, to reduce the cost of transportation of goods. Warehouses with logistic parks will also be developed in hilly areas.
Better performance of Uttarakhand in Himalayan states
In the report of Export Preparedness Index (EPI) 2020 of NITI Aayog, Uttarakhand has been rated better in exports. In the category of Himalayan states, Uttarakhand was included in the best performing state. Pharma, automobiles, plastics, agriculture and related products are exported the most from the state.

Draft Logistics Policy has been prepared. Suggestions have also been taken from entrepreneurs and exporters on the policy. Soon the presentation of the policy will be done after meeting at the government level. After this the proposal of the policy will be placed in the cabinet. – Dr. Pankaj Kumar Pandey, Secretary Industries

To promote exports, the government is going to implement a logistics policy. Which is a commendable step. In the policy, we have also given suggestions to the government. In which logistics hubs and warehouses should be set up in each district. Apart from this, there should be a common parking facility for goods vehicles and a transparent system to check unnecessary goods carrier vehicles.
