Star Labelling Programme for \u201cSolar Water Heater\u201d Launched<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the guidance of Ministry of Power, Government of India, organised the 29th<\/sup>\u00a0National Energy Conservation Awards.\u00a0Shri R. K. Singh,\u00a0<\/strong>Minister of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy and Minister of State for Skill Development & Entrepreneurship was the chief guest on this occasion. This year, Energy Conservation is celebrated through a weeklong activities culminating on the National Energy Conservation Day i.e. 14th<\/sup>\u00a0December at VigyanBhawan. The concluding event witnessed awards distribution to the winners from different industries and establishments, and the winners of National Painting Competition for students.<\/p>\n

Shri R. K. Singhhighlighted the importance of energy conservation in Country\u2019s sustainable development approach. He emphasised the need for taking measures in order to reduce CO2\u00a0<\/sub>emission so as to minimise adverse impact of climate change. The Power Minister lauded the outcome and efforts of BEE program and complimented the industry for making sincere efforts in implementing various schemes.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, Star Labelling Programme for Solar Water Heater was launched and a Handbook for Implementation of Provisions of Energy Conservation Act 2001 was released.<\/p>\n

The event witnessed award presentations to 65 industries and institutions from various sectors for their excellent performance in achieving energy efficiency.\u00a0 Altogether 355 units and establishments across the country participated to save 10,566 Million units which is over Rs. 5,000 crore. Under the National Level Painting Competition, total 26 students from two groups were awarded. The prize winning paintings will be displayed in Govt. Offices.<\/p>\n

On this occasion,\u00a0Secretary, Ministry of Power<\/strong>,said, \u201cWe celebrate NEC Day every year to recognise and celebrate the efforts towards energy conservation. We congratulate every award winner for their performance. We have launched Star Labelling Programme for Solar Water Heater to promote use of efficient appliances.\u201d<\/p>\n

The event was organised with an aim to promote energy conservation among all the sectors of economy, followed by an award distribution ceremony for the industrial units &other establishments to encourage more actions in achieving efficient utilization and conservation of energy.<\/p>\n

BEE also organised series of events throughout the week from 9th<\/sup>\u00a0to 14th<\/sup>\u00a0December as given below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

4<\/td>\n12th\u00a0<\/sup>December<\/td>\nNational Level Painting Competition for school Children in association with NTPC and PGCIL.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
5<\/td>\n12th\u00a0<\/sup>& 13th\u00a0<\/sup>December<\/td>\nInternational Cooling workshop under the umbrella of Super-Efficient Appliance and Equipment Deployment (SEAD) initiatives of Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) in association with IEA.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
6<\/td>\n14th\u00a0<\/sup>December<\/td>\nNational Energy Conservation Day 2019 celebrated as the concluding event of the week. Approx. 1,500 delegates were present. Apart from the awardees, winners of National level Painting Competition 2019 i.e. school children from class 4 to 9 were also awarded.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

The dignitaries and delegates also visited an exhibition depicting various initiatives on energy efficiency and their current progress highlighting major contribution to country\u2019s energy security. The paintings of selected winners of National Painting Competition were also showcased at the exhibition. The exhibition drew the attention of visitors who could get glimpse about the achievements in this area.<\/p>\n
