Police have released video filmed on the phone of an Himalayas mountaineer, before an avalanche killed the entire climbing party.
\nThe GoPro footage of the final moments of a climbing party killed by an avalanche in the Himalayas has been released by police in India.
\nAustralian woman Ruth McCance was one of eight climbers killed while climbing near the base camp of Nanda Devi in late May.

\nMs McCance, a Sydney woman, was known as an avid climber, sailor and jazz singer.<\/p>\n

Four Britons, two Americans and an Indian were also killed by the sudden avalanche.
\nNow the Indo-Tibetan Border Police has released video footage of the group climbing the mountain.
\n“Suddenly we noticed a loud noise. The video went blank and stopped,” police spokesman Vivek Kumar Pandey told AFP.
\n“They were crossing a very dangerous ridge. The snow cornice must have given away because of their weight, triggering an avalanche.”

\nThe GoPro camera was found buried in snow near where seven of the climbers’ bodies were found, including Ms McCance.
\nThe camera has helped police determine what went wrong with the mission, deputy inspector general APS Nambadia said.
\n“The GoPro has proved to be like the black box of an aircraft giving an insight into the last few moments of the climbers,” he said.
\nThe Indo-Tibetan Border Police dispatched a unit to recover the bodies of the climbers.

\nThe body of Englishman Martin Moran is still missing.
\nMountaineers from the police have recovered the seven bodies that were found, along with a number of their possessions.<\/p>\n
