{"id":38026,"date":"2026-03-26T19:54:53","date_gmt":"2026-03-26T14:24:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/udaen.info\/?p=38026"},"modified":"2026-03-26T19:54:56","modified_gmt":"2026-03-26T14:24:56","slug":"general-elections-and-bye-elections-2026-seizures-surpass-rs-400-crores","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/udaen.info\/?p=38026","title":{"rendered":"General Elections and bye-elections 2026: Seizures surpass Rs. 400 crores"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Titleh2\">General Elections and bye-elections 2026: Seizures surpass Rs. 400 crores<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Subtitleh3\"><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p> PIB Delhi<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol>\n<li>Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for the General Election to Legislative Assemblies of Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal and bye-elections in 6 states on March 15,2026. The Commission has directed the State\/UT governments to ensure strict compliance with the Model Code of Conduct (MCC).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It may be recalled that the Commission held a review meeting with the Chief Secretaries, CEOs, DGPs, and senior officers from the 5 poll-going states\/UTs and their 12 bordering states\/UTs along with the Heads of Enforcement Agencies to review readiness, enhance coordination, and directed them to ensure\u00a0<strong>violence-free, intimidation-free and inducement-free elections\u00a0<\/strong>on 24th March, 2026.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To ensure this, over\u00a0<strong>5,173 Flying squads\u00a0<\/strong>have been deployed across the States\/UT to ensure that the complaints are attended to\u00a0<strong>within 100 minutes<\/strong>. Besides this, over\u00a0<strong>5,200 Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs)\u00a0<\/strong>have also been deployed for setting up surprise\u00a0<em>Nakas\u00a0<\/em>at different locations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Since the activation of the Electronic Seizure Management System (ESMS) on the 26th of February, till 25th March, 2026, over\u00a0<strong>Rs. 408.82 crores worth of illicit inducements\u00a0<\/strong>including,\u00a0<strong>Rs 17.44 crores in cash, liquor worth Rs. 37.68 crores (16.3 lakh litres), drugs worth Rs. 167.38 crores, precious metals worth Rs. 23 crores\u00a0<\/strong>and other\u00a0<strong>freebies worth over Rs. 163.30 crores\u00a0<\/strong>have been seized through a coordinated approach involving multi-enforcement agencies across different States\/UTs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Commission has also stressed that the enforcement authorities should ensure that\u00a0<strong>ordinary citizens are not inconvenienced or harassed\u00a0<\/strong>during the checking and inspection for the enforcement of these directives. District Grievance Committees have also been setup to address any grievances in this regard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Citizens\/political parties can report MCC violations using the\u00a0<strong>C-Vigil Module\u00a0<\/strong>on<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">ECINET.<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"7\">\n<li>From 15th March till 25th March,\u00a0<strong>70,944 complaints have been lodged\u00a0<\/strong>using the C-Vigil App in the General elections and the bye-elections bound States\/UTs.
