Journalist Council of India Raises Strong Voice Against Harassment of Journalists<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New Delhi, [Date] \u2013 Concerned over the increasing attacks and false cases against journalists across the country, the Journalist Council of India convened a virtual meeting with more than a hundred national and regional office-bearers and members. The council strongly condemned such incidents and demanded that the government ensure a safe and fearless environment for journalists so they can carry out their duties independently.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Opening the session, Council President Dr. Anurag Saxena said, \u201cAt a time when small newspapers are struggling for their very existence, it has become absolutely necessary for the government to recognize e-papers. The false cases and harassment of journalists are a serious threat to democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting highlighted the following key demands:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Guarantee of a safe and fearless working environment for journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Review and withdrawal of false cases filed against journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Recognition and protection for local and grassroots journalists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Immediate recognition of e-papers by the government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
National leaders including Raju Charan, Harishankar Parashar, Mr. Jha, and Bihar State In-charge Kunal Bhagat expressed concern and called for unity among journalists to fight against exploitation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Concluding the meeting, National Coordinator Dr. R.C. Srivastava urged all journalists to strengthen the organization and fight collectively, stating that \u201cIf we stand united, we can win any battle. Protecting the interests of journalists has always been our top priority.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On this occasion, the Council also extended birthday greetings to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and appealed that local journalists be given due recognition, as they play a crucial role in collecting news from the grassroots level, often risking their lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
