GTCC has taken the lead in resolving the disputes and pending work of the sports associations. GTCC members will remain deployed till the National Games are held.Only 19 days are left for the 38th National Games but as the preparations for some games are still incomplete, on the instructions of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA), the Games Technical Conduct Committee (GTCC) has come to Dehradun and taken charge. The IOA has decided that some members of the GTCC will remain in the Sports Secretariat in Dehradun until the sports event is held. If the sports associations are unable to organize trial camps or make other preparations in time or if there is any shortcoming in the preparations of the Sports Directorate, then the GTCC will take the final decision so that there is no hindrance in the sports event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In this connection, GTCC President Sunaina Kumari reached Dehradun on Wednesday. Another member is also with her. There have been continuous meetings with the senior officials of the Sports Directorate. The series of meetings will continue on Thursday as well. President Sunaina said that at present it can be said that the sports preparations are going ahead, meetings are to be held today and tomorrow in this regard. Soon all the preparations will be completed and a grand event of sports will be organized.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The ground picture is worrying<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the other hand, the ground picture is somewhat worrying. So far, preparations for some sports including athletics track, golf, taekwondo and swimming are incomplete or in limbo. There was a proposal to conduct golf in FRI, but there is a nine-hole ground there, whereas the ground should be of 18 holes. In such a situation, the last hope of the Sports Directorate is from a private ground being built in Paundha, but that too has not been finalized yet. Due to this, even the trial camp for golf could not be held.There is a dispute in the golf association as well. Similarly, a system for heating water is being installed in the swimming pool in Haldwani, which is still on trial. The athletics ground is being renovated in Maharana Pratap Stadium in Dehradun, the deadline for which was 31 December, but it has passed, the work is still going on.Due to disputes within the sports associations of Taekwondo and Golf, their camps have not been held. Equipment for some sports has also not been purchased, for which the deadline is January 10. In such a situation, it has been decided to keep GTCC members present in the Sports Secretariat continuously, so that GTCC can take a final decision on all disputes and incomplete preparations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
