CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has won a historic victory in Champawat by-election by getting more than 58 thousand votes. His victory was already considered certain. The results of the Champawat by-election, held on May 31, were declared on Saturday. Counting of votes started at 8 am. Apart from CM Dhami, Congress’s Nirmala Gahatodi, SP supported Manoj Kumar Bhatt and independent Himanshu Gadkoti were in the fray. CM Dhami’s victory was considered certain after the results of the first round were declared, but as the rounds progressed, he moved towards record votes.
Chief Minister Dhami became the candidate who won the by-election with maximum votes. He also broke the record of victory of former CM Bahuguna. CM Dhami Champawat won the by-election by getting more than 54 thousand votes. With the victory of CM Dhami by record votes, BJP workers have started celebrating.
Nirmala Gahatodi of Congress got 3607 votes. For the first time, Congress’s bail was forfeited. While CM Dhami became the winning candidate with the most votes, the Congress suffered a crushing defeat in the Champawat by-election. Which once again exposed the party’s factionalism.
