The High Court upheld the ban on the appointment process for the posts of LT Hindi, general subject and physical teachers, while removing the ban on the appointment of LT teachers of other subjects, has fixed July 18 for the next hearing of the matter.

The High Court was hearing a petition challenging the questions asked in the examination of the Subordinate Services Selection Commission for the recruitment of LT (Arts) teachers in the state. After this, the ban on the recruitment process for the posts of LT Hindi, General Subject and Physical Teachers has been retained.

The court, while lifting the ban on the appointment of LT teachers of other subjects, has fixed July 18 for the next hearing of the matter. The matter was heard before a single bench of Senior Justice Manoj Kumar Tiwari. In separate petitions, 24 people, including Tehri Garhwal resident Anand Prakash Bhatt, had filed separate petitions saying that on October 13, 2021, the government had issued advertisements for recruitment to 1431 posts in LT category. Meanwhile, on February 25, 2022, the government changed the rules and abolished the mandatory requirement of BEd in Arts stream. On this, the single bench of the High Court, while banning the recruitment process, issued a notice to the government and the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission, asking why the rules were changed during the recruitment.

At the same time, it was said on behalf of the petitioners that the expert appointed by the commission gave a wrong answer to the question asked in the written examination, due to which the candidates were deprived of the selection.
