India’s 70-year wait is finally over. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a cheetah, which arrived in India from Namibia on the occasion of his birthday, in a special enclosure set up in the Kuno National Park in Sheopur, Madhya Pradesh. Now they will be kept in quarantine for a month. After that they will be released in the wild. After leaving the leopard, PM Modi addressed the people. He said that today is a historic day. The cheetah has returned to our land after decades. He said that it was our misfortune that we declared cheetahs extinct from the country in 1952, but for decades no meaningful effort was made to rehabilitate them. He appealed to the people to be patient to see the cheetah. He said that these cheetahs have come as guests. Unknown here. We will have to give some time for these to make Kuno National Park their home.
