E-commerce suppliers, who are facing the stringent provisions of GST, are expected to get relief soon. It is being claimed that some relaxation in the rules related to e-commerce suppliers can be done in the meeting of GST Council to be held in Chandigarh next week. It is being told that this issue has been included in the agenda of the meeting.

According to experts associated with the GST Council, a multi-level report can also be presented in the council meeting related to the functioning of the National Anti-Profiteering Authority (NAA) and the demands made so far before the council.

It is being told that the proposal of the government to merge the NAA with the Competition Commission of India (CCI) can also be discussed in the meeting of the GST Council. The central government had already submitted a proposal to merge the NAA with the CCI. If the National Anti-Profiteering Authority is merged with the Competition Commission of India, the powers to investigate and decide on all pending NAA cases will go to the Competition Commission of India.

According to experts, till the end of last month, more than 400 cases were pending with the National Anti-Profiteering Authority. Due to the pendency of such a large number of cases, the CCI had also opposed the merger proposal at the initial stage. It is being told that for this reason, the authority has been directed by the government to settle as many pending cases as possible, so that if it is merged with the Competition Commission of India, then its pending works will be more burdened. Don’t fall for CCI.
