Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh hoisted the national flag on the occasion of 70 the Republic Day at Secretariat today. Congratulating the officers and employees on the occasion , Utpal Kumar Singh said that it was day to remember the sacrifices of the freedom fighters who paid immense sacrifices so that we could get this glorious republic. He said that the Constitution of India is considered most enlightened and glorious in the world which has come with great sacrifices by our forefathers. He said that constitution makers by making the Constitution reposed faith in the general public. Chief Secretary said that soon after independence the country was facing difficulties and those times were of partition and violence and a large number of people were uneducated and ill-fed with minimal health services. At that time the people of the world had apprehensions that the country which had suffered long due to feudalism and colonialism would be able to agree to this constitution. However, their apprehensions were proved wrong as regard to India as in many other countries which also gained independence, constitutions were changed many times and even coups happened.
He said that the people has strengthened the constitution in which the legislature, Judiciary, administration and media has played a stellar role. Utpal Kumar Singh congratulated all the officers and employees and said that small efforts on our part, create confidence in the constitution since the government order issued by the government from time to time benefit the people and the confidence of the people in the constitution gets strengthened. He appealed to the officers and employees that wherever they are posted, they should work with honesty and hoped that with honesty and dedication the country will go forward.
A platoon of the police also presented a guard of honour and the students of Government Inter college sang patriotic songs. On this occasion , the Chief secretary also distributed prizes to winners of the “ Run for against Drugs” marathon organized by Uttarakhand police in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Secretary D Senthil Pandian, Review Officer Lalit Chander Joshi, Rajiv Nayan Pandey, Rajinder Chander Joshi, computer assistant Sandeep Bisht,Sanjay Kala, Sanjay Thapa,havaldar Tulsi Prasad pancholi of Secretariat security, Deepak Bisht and Dinesh Dinga received prizes from the Chief Secretary. The girls of Government inter College were also given prizes. On this occasion , Additional Chief Secretary, all secretaries, additional secretaries and officers and employees of secretariat were present.
