Blog single photoThe countdown has started for the start of the Chardham Yatra in Uttarakhand, but the situation is not normal due to the havoc of Corona. The excitement of the Chardham Yatra is not visible anywhere due to the dreaded corona virus infection worldwide. Under these conditions, Chardham Yatra has once again reached the position of seven years ago. Then people were turned away from Uttarakhand due to Kedarnath disaster. Barely back on track, the Chardham Yatra is once again believed to be derailed.

On the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, on the 26th of April, the doors of Gangotri and Yamunotri Dham are opened as soon as the Char Dham Yatra begins. In the present situation, it is certain that this time religious traditions will be discharged, but the presence of devotees will not be the same. After the Kedarnath disaster in 2013, when the yatra started the next year, the number of devotees coming to Uttarakhand was reduced to two lakh. Earlier in 2012, more than 25 lakh devotees took part in Chardham Yatra.

The efforts of the Congress’s Harish Rawat government and later the Modi government at the Center resulted in the Chardham Yatra slowly coming back on track. Especially in the promotion of Kedarnath, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was so involved that the number of devotees who reached there had increased unexpectedly. The number of devotees reaching Kedarnath in 2019 touched the one million mark for the first time. It was believed that this time the journey will be two steps ahead of the success of last year’s journey. Last time in the first week of May, the doors of the dham were opened. Government spokesperson and cabinet minister Madan Kaushik on Chardham Yatra says that the crisis in Corona has disturbed the life of the whole world. Uttarakhand is also strongly facing the challenge of Corona. In such a situation, it is natural to affect many things. The government will review the conditions and take appropriate decisions in travel and other matters.
