In times of crisis, a struggling woman donated all her life’s earnings to the country. Devaki Devi Bhandari, who lives in Gauchar in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, deposited Rs 10 lakh in the Prime Minister’s Care Fund on Wednesday.
Devaki Devi’s husband Hukum Singh Bhandari was serving in the silk department. He died a few years ago. Devaki Devi said that due to having no child, she devoted her life to social work. He adopted some children and helped them in their higher education. Devaki Devi, 60, still lives in a rented house. His father was a freedom fighter.
He said that Rs 10 lakh was deposited from the FD and pension amount deposited in the bank. In view of the Corona crisis, lifetime income has been donated to the Prime Minister’s Care Fund to fight this epidemic. Central Bank branch managers Pankaj Panwar, Councilor Anil Negi, Councilor Devendra Negi, Trade Union President Rakesh Lingwal etc. appreciated the national love of Devaki Devi and said that they are a vision for the people.
